THE Seventh Annual Art Auction was a hit on Saturday, with people in the Margaret River Cultural Centre mingling and admiring works donated by local artists.
One of the organisers, Emily Douglas, said she expected the event would raise about $25,000 in funds, as it has in past years. These funds will go towards arts, music and drama at the Margaret River Independent School and a new shed for Witchcliffe Fire Brigade.
Margaret River artist Gabe Heussenstamm said he had gone to the Independent School at a young age, and was happy to donate his fish-themed painting created especially for the event.
As well as the artworks, which gave 100 per cent of profits to the causes, there were wines donated by local wineries.
Many people attended the event, with some visiting from out of state, and enjoyed wine, artwork and live music by Pete Ladd-McGovern of Margaret River.
