The focus was on fungi at Margaret River Independent School on Wednesday as part of this term’s Bush School.
Students went on a fungi hunt with MRIS parent and fungi expert Angela Bussell who recently returned from a fungi fieldwork project in Tasmanian.
Other workshops the class enjoyed were Qi gong (the cultivation of vital energy), tour guiding and animal tracking.
Bush School involves a whole day of teaching outside the classroom where students and their parents learn about a wide range of topics in the wonderful learning environment of the school’s Nyindamurra Nature Trail.
Year 2/3 teacher Ashley Williamson said the focus on fungi will culminate in an informative pamphlet created by the class and tour-guiding experience for the students.
