Work has begun on MRIS’s hardcourt renovation, starting with the removal of the old, deteriorating surface. The project will transform the space into a fully covered hardcourt featuring a new concrete base, durable vinyl rubber surface, a 250,000-litre rainwater tank, and dedicated sports storage. Once construction begins, works are expected to take 6–8 weeks. This project has been made possible through a generous grant from the Australian Government Capital Grants Program. During construction, Physical Education lessons will be held on the grassed areas, the Oval and in the PAC. The structure may also serve as a bus shelter, allowing students to move directly on and off buses safely. MRIS School Principal, Rachel Fox said “This renovation represents a significant investment in the future of our school. We’re excited to see this project come to life as the new covered space will make such a difference for our students, giving them a safe, all-weather area for sport, learning and other school activities. We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Australian Government Capital Grants Program, which has enabled us to create a facility that will benefit our community for many years to come.”
