Sharing the learning journey
The school owns its buildings and is constantly expanding its facilities, which include the Nyindamurra Performing Arts Centre, eight classrooms, a library, dedicated art/science classroom and administration building. There are two playgrounds for Early Learning students, three for Primary students, plus a hard-court and parkland playing areas for student use.
Recently the school’s entrance has been upgraded with a new bituminised carpark, upgrades to the exterior of the administration building, aesthetic palisade screening and a new school sign.
To accommodate growing student numbers at Margaret River Independent School and deliver a state-of-the-art theatre experience, major works of over $215,000 have been completed on the school’s Performing Arts Centre (PAC).
The PAC has been extended and enclosed to make the space more usable during inclement weather, provide more room for large school community gatherings and block out road noise. Back stage curtains have also been installed together with a new stage lighting and sound system that can be controlled through an iPad.
The upgrade on the PAC has enhanced MRIS’s performing arts, music and sport programs and provided a state-of-the-art space for students and the wider community.
MRIS Dance & Drama teacher, Genevieve Bosman praised the building upgrade saying the work had “opened up the ability to use the space in a more creative way.”
“The PAC improvements support our ability to offer a fun and functional theatre space allowing our students greater freedom to express their creativity.”
The MRIS PAC can be hired out to the wider community.
