‘Empowering youth voice for the future’ was the focus of the Augusta Margaret Youth Summit held at the Zone Room this week. MRIS was represented by Year 6 students Juniper Bowlers and Millie Hamilton. The girls joined representatives from other local schools to review the shire’s Strengthening Youth Plan 2018-2022 discussing issues like mental health facilities, public transport and local events. The pair said the summit was very interesting and provided a real-life learning scenario which inspired them to want to be involved in public affairs and the shaping of the future.
