A Grand time: MRIS Year 3 student, Sana helped her Grandfather, Dougy Johnston to make a Gratitude Flag as part of the school’s Grandparent Day.

Margaret River Independent School’s inaugural Grandparent Day was  a  great success with 21 grandparents “going back to school.”

Grandparents were treated to a Morning Tea before filing into class to complete ‘Gratitude Flags’ with their grandchildren focusing on the theme of “I am Grateful for my Grandparents.”

MRIS principal, Wendy Roediger said the function was a great way of connecting with extended MRIS families and recognising the vital role that grandparents play.

Grandparent Day will be held on the first day of Spring each year at MRIS with  a bush walk planned on the school’s Nyindamurra Nature Trail for 2016.
