MRIS was delighted to raise well over $40,000 at the 19th Annual Margaret River Art Auction held on Saturday. MRIS Principal, Wendy Roediger said 88 artworks had been donated to the auction. “Once again there was an exciting and eclectic collection of artworks going under the hammer,” she said. “Our artists generosity, brilliant creativity and talent are the heart of the Art Auction and is what makes it so successful,” she said. “Our sponsors generous support is the foundation on which we build a strong, vital and popular event. The winner of the White Elephant Beach Cafe People’s Choice Award of $2000 was awarded to Marcelle Egberts for her captivating work “Main Break”. The Annapurna Wholefoods Packers’ Prize of $1500 was awarded to Honor Denby for her quirky, colourful piece “On the Fence.” Soleil Heimlich was awarded the $1500 REDSEA Gallery Emerging Artist Prize for her eye-catching work “First Breath”. MRIS’s own Chloe Wilder received the Homes by Nature Sustainability Art Prize of $1000 for “Tough Racket”. The winner of the $5000 MRIS Margaret River Art Prize was Cindy Nasato for her stunning piece “Jonathan Livingston Seagull the 1st”
