Six former MRIS students came ‘back to school’ on
Tuesday as part of Margaret River Senior High School’s
transition process.
The current MRIS Year 6 students were keen to listen to
the experiences of Darcy, Gabe, Louis, Evie, Claudia and Tilly
who graduated from MRIS last year.
MRIS Principal, Wendy Roediger said the visit was
important to ensure a smooth and positive transition
into high school.
“MRIS Year 6 students will spend this semester getting
ready for the important move to high school by
developing strategies for overcoming academic and
social challenges, resilience-building, and increasing
critical-thinking.”
Year 6 teacher Laura Nicholls said transition preparation
was essential in making students feel secure about the
next step in their education. Specially designed
‘leavers’ shirts and hoodies are currently being worn by
the Year 6 class, and a 2024 Leavers Yearbook is being
designed.
