Two former MRIS students came ‘back to school’ recently to assist with Margaret River Senior High School’s
transition process.
The current MRIS Year 6 students were keen to listen to the experiences of Kiva Cresswell and Mia Coleman who graduated from MRIS in 2016.
MRSHS’s Chris Buckland said it was important that new students had a smooth and positive transition into high school. Year 6 students will spend next semester getting ready for the important move to high school, developing strategies for overcoming academic and social challenges, resilience-building, and increasing critical-thinking. Year 5/6 teacher Laura Nicholls said transition preparation was essential in making students feel secure about the next step in their education. Specially designed ‘leavers’ jumpers are currently being worn by the Year 5/6 class, and a 2017 school magazine is being designed.
