An impressive $50,000 was raised at the 16th Annual Margaret River Art Auction held on Saturday, November 6, 2021. The result was the best in the event’s 16 year history. “Thanks goes out to our generous artists and sponsors and to the wonderful community for their support” said Margaret River Independent School’s principal Wendy Roediger. Rona Mirtle was awarded the Emerging Artist Prize for her reduction lino print “Lane 4” “I am inspired by the wild and wooly coastlines and the colours observed there throughout the seasons.” Rona said. I have found a new passion for printmaking and I am fascinated by the process of layering colours either on a lino plate or through constructing collagraphs.” The winner of the Packers’ Prize was Karl Heussenstamm for his hand-finished print on ply “Brody”. Robyn Collins received the Sustainability Art Prize for her monoprint and collage “Black Lace’, while Emily Jackson was awarded the Margaret River Brewhouse People’s Choice Award for limited edition print “Discovering Boranup.”
