THE invention of bubble gum sparked the imaginations of MRIS Kindy-Pre students recently as part of the classes’ Inventions inquiry. The class was transformed into a pop-up Bubble Gum laboratory allowing the children to make their own play dough bubble gum by mixing colours, flavours and textures. Teacher Debbie Pendlebury said students decided to look into Walter Diemer’s invention of bubble gum after brainstorming a number of famous inventions. “It was an overarching inquiry which took in many learning areas including language, maths science, history , advertising and marketing. The students wore lab coats and used test tubes and funnels, and created their own advertising and labels.
