“Little Red Riding Hood” was used as the focus for Yr 1 students to learn narrative as part of ‘Talk for Writing’.
The program aids students to structure text through talking and actions before learning writing tasks
The class spent all term memorising the story orally, and using the framework in order to write their own stories which then culminated in a recent performance attended by parents.
Teacher Skye Robertson said the children learnt what makes a narrative—the beginning, the build-up, the problem, the resolution and the ending.
‘Talk for Writing’ is a whole school program.
