MARGARET River Independent School teacher Kyile Chatto won a $1500 scholarship to attend the National Australian Literacy Education Association (ALEA) Conference held in Brisbane in July.

The Year 2/3 teacher wrote a paper about literacy education in schools to win one of five Western Australian scholarships.

Kylie said she enjoyed attending master-classes, workshops and seminars.

The conference’s theme this year was a ‘Brave New World – English and literacy teaching for the 21st century.
